Experiencing the Supply Chain Management game was a rewarding experience that provided deep understanding of the complex inner workings of supply chains. It was really entertaining as well as educational, explaining the workings of supply chains. The crucial functions of the production, distributor, and retailer were emphasized within this complex network.
The game effectively demonstrated the vital roles that all supply chain participant’s play. Each participant was required to maintain their inventory according to their unique needs. Not doing so made it impossible to quickly satisfy requests.
The game basically showed that effective inventory management is a prerequisite for successful supply chain management. It became clear that keeping an optimal inventory level is essential to meeting demand. Ineffective inventory management may cause delays that make it more difficult to fulfill orders on time.
The lesson learned from the incident was how important it is to match inventory levels to demand. Maintaining the smooth operation of the supply chain depends on this coordination. Effective inventory management is critical to every step of the process, from the factory manufacturing goods to the distributor handling logistics to the merchant satisfying customer requests.
